Welcome to DionGarage.com!!!

If you’re new to this web site, you’re probably wondering who we are and what we’re all about. DionGarage is really about a father and son team that loves cars. Mainly 60’s muscle cars, although hot rods are pretty darn cool too. The vehicles on this site are either in the “Dions’ Garage” or are owned by our closest friends and family members.

This site really is a tribute to American car history and what man can accomplish if he puts his mind to it. It’s also a tribute to family values and the bonds that something as simple as a car can create between family. It’s rare I’m at a car show without Dad, my wife and kids, brother-in-law and friends. It’s a great time spent with family! I’m so proud of my daughter when she goes to school and tells her friends about the “tubbed-out blown hemi-cuda, she saw last weekend”! And before my son learned to spell his name, he was spelling “H-E-M-I”.

HISTORY BEHIND DIONGARAGE

Kurt, one of Dad’s coworkers got us hooked on muscle cars. He had a 1969 L88 Corvette Stingray. In 2005, we were given the opportunity and privilege to purchase this rare muscle car and we just couldn’t pass it up. If you’ve seen our site before, you’ve seen the ‘Vette. If you’re in the Tampa area and go to Gandy bridge on Saturday nights, you’ve probably seen it live, or at least the tail lights!

Through the same friend, Dad found his 1968 Mustang Convertible. It has its original 302 engine and Holley carb. Somewhere along the line, its cam had been upgraded to a juicier one which gave it a nice “lope”. Dad gets his fair share of teasing driving a pale yellow convertible “girls car”, but as he boils the tires off the line at a stop light and usually leaves us looking at the tail lights, he gets the last laugh.

I was blessed in April of 2004 to find my dream car. Even before I got into the whole car scene, I always had a thing for ‘Eleanor’ in Gone in 60 seconds. You know the one, a 1967 Shelby GT500! I found her younger sister in Atlanta. A Candy-Apple red 1968 GT500 that - come to find out through a Marty report, was 1 of 9 in the Candy-Apple on black interior color combination. It has made appearances at the 2005 Mustang Launch and the 2004 International Car Show. It’s a trophy winner that constantly is turning heads. The thing that really makes my Shelby special, is the extremely rare opportunity I had to meet the legend himself. Carroll Shelby. At the 2006 Barrett-Jackson Car Auction in Palm Beach. We also met Chip Foose and Craig Jackson that same trip. It was an eventful weekend! Don’t believe me?

Next is the car that began the fever. After going to a couple of car shows with our buddy Kurt, Dad and I decided to start looking for the perfect starter car. It wasn’t long after that Dad’s work took one in on trade for a great price. It wasn’t a week later I was driving off in our first hot rod! A 400hp 1932 steel body Ford 3 window coupe. What a rush!!! I learned more about engines and mechanics in those first three months than I ever thought I would in a lifetime!

Since DionGarage came online in 2004, we’ve managed to own some pretty cool cars. Our current projects include three Dodge Hemi Challengers: a sublime green 1970 and two 1971 RT recreations in Plum Crazy and Lemon Twist. Keep an eye on the site, because rumor has it, one will become a 528 hemi based-pistol grip-Dana 60 monster!!!

Have a muscle car you’re selling? Contact us. We’ll either help you sell it from our website, or buy it ourselves! Don’t have a muscle car, but know someone who does? Contact us. If we make a deal, we’ll pay you a finder’s fee! Here’s what we’re looking for for future projects:

Any ’70-’71 Mopar E-bodies (4 speeds with shakers preferable)

’68-’70 Dodge Chargers

’70 Convertible Coronets & Super Bees

’67-’69 Camaros

’69-’70 Mustang Fastbacks
